The 2016 meeting of the M.O.B (Midwest Order of Beardsmen) took place this afternoon in Springfield, MO and was nothing short of excellent! The M.O.B is made up of members from facial hair clubs from all around the midwest. We have an annual gathering every January to help promote a stronger bearded brotherhood among our clubs, build friendships, and join together for some charity outreach. This year the benefiting charity was the Diaper Bank of the Ozarks. They are a store house that supplies diapers/baby supplies to partnering agencies to help families in need in the Springfield area. For a little friendly competition, we held a contest to see which club could bring in the most diaper/diaper wipe donations. Congratulations to the Queen City Beard & Moustache Federation for pulling off a 3-peat and taking home the highly coveted MOBLET! Between all of the clubs 17,000 diapers/containers of diaper wipes were collected and enough cash donations that'd buy another 3,000 diapers....20,000 diapers! OUTSTANDING JOB, M.O.B! In January 2017, the next M.O.B gathering will be held in Kansas City. We hope we can count on seeing all your bearded faces there.
What can I say...27 volunteers, several hundred pounds of food donated from the Thanksgiving food drive, and a whopping 424 cases of food repackaged for seniors in our community. Today was a good day.
Thank you to everyone who donated food items over the past 30 days for our Thanksgiving Food Drive For Harvesters. We collected 430 pounds of non-perishable food items; which triples the amount we did last year. Nice job everyone! A special thank you to the AT&T Pioneers for partnering with us to help make this food drive a great success.
We collected 65 can goods and 22 boxed goods today at the food drive drop off at the Ward Parkway Lanes. Thank you to our members & supporters who came out today to give back to our community. Don't forget...Saturday November 21st we will be dropping off all of our collected items at Harvesters before our 2:00 volunteer shift. Hope you can join us!
